The locking arrangement we use does not work on a chair with a collapsible frame. The locking system we use (EZ Lock Wheelchair Docking system - see http://www.ezlock.net/home.htm ) has been fitted to many mini-bus type vehicles for the transport of wheelchair users to and from hospital. Many wheelchair manufacturers will therefore be familiar with our locking system and will be able to advise on the suitability of specific wheelchairs. If this route of inquiry is unproductive, we will also, of course, carry out research on the customer's behalf.
The locking pin assembly consists of two components. The first of which is a bracket which is clamped to the frame of the wheelchair. The second is the pin which is attached to the bracket. The pin is detachable but the bracket is a permanent fixture.
Yes. There are pockets and a small 'glove box' inside The Conquest as standard. Luggage racks are available as an optional extra - see Optional Extras list for details. In addition we are currently working on the provision of pannier-type racks on the left and right flanks, map pockets & small glove / storage compartments.
An occasional passenger seat, fitted to the access ramp, is available as an optional extra. A passenger seat mounted on a frame is available for more regular use and this can also be used in the driving position - see the Optional Extras list for details.
In the UK, yes, you can drive the Conquest with a single seat providing you display 'L' plates. The Conquest is in the 'B1' category and the auto car licence is a higher level 'B', but because the Conquest has a clutch and is therefore manual, a provisional status with L plates is required. This 'provisional L plate status' can be maintained until the driver reaches the age of 70 without further testing. For further information see: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/WhatCanYouDriveAndYourObligations/DG_4022547
In the UK you can ride the Conquest with a Full Motorcycle or Car license. This also allows you to carry a passenger in The Conquest. You can also ride The Conquest with a UK Provisional Car license. In this case you must display L plates but you cannot carry a passenger unless they are full car or bike license holders. If you hold a UK Automatic Car License then you can ride The Conquest with the same restrictions as imposed on Provisional License holders as above.
